A Slight Delay

I was supposed to have my last chemo today.  However, there has been a delay.  As mentioned in my last blog, I wasn't feeling great last week.  I went to the doctor on Monday, and it seems that, while I didn't have the infection she thought, it seems that heartburn was causing acid sores in my esophagus!  YAY!  Fun!  Anyways, that is the cause of the throat issues and the medication I was on was causing the stomach issues.  But, as well, my oncologist wants to wait a week to let things settle down and heal.  I am disappointed that I won't be finished today,  but I went into this expecting that there will be a complication or delay.  I wasn't being pessimistic, just realistic.  I figured that if there was an issue, at least I had figured there would be!  And if there wasn't, than bonus!

However, by delaying, I get to have another good week before things get bad again for the last time!  I can watch Zev play baseball, celebrate Rosh Hashanna, take the girls to dance, and even go to my friend, Lynne's daughters wedding, which I have really been looking forward to!  I may not be dancing until the wee hours, but I will be there  - wig and all!

My Dad would have turned 70 today. We lost him to lung cancer 10 years ago, weeks after he turned 60.   But on that birthday, we celebrated.  We had just had Zahra, and we chose to name her on the Shabbat that was his birthday.  It was perfect.  He was so proud to go to Synagogue, surrounded by all of his loved ones and name that precious little girl.  It was the last time he left the house voluntarily and had to be in a wheelchair (the cancer had progressed rapidly after surgery and he was very weak) but he walked up to the Bima and had his Aalyiah.  His friends did a prayer circle around him and there was not a dry eye in the place.  After, everyone walked back to our house and we had a beautiful party celebrating both the beginning of life and a well lived life being taken too soon. I am living a miracle right now

Let me recap: I am living a miracle right  now.  I did a genetic test out of the blue in October, after my Father In Law told me about a study at Women’s College.  My grandmother was a BRCA 1 carrier and breast cancer survivor.  I figured with family history, why not.  At the end of November, I got the positive results and began to set up appointments to be screened.  I met with the Breast Specialist at Women’s in February, and had a mammogram and MRI on March 26th.  When I got the results phone call, I was told that it is normal for a first MRI to show something, as there is nothing to compare it to, and that the mammogram was clear.  However, I needed a biopsy.  So, a week later, I went for an ultrasound biopsy.  The following week, we were told that the biopsy was clear, but that my doctor had a gut feeling and wanted to be 100% sure that everything was clear.  She sent me for an MRI biopsy, just to rule everything out.   The following week, we got the devastating, yet optimisti
